As another wonderful year of growth, learning, good times and great experiences with good friends, loving family and amazing clients comes to a close I like to take time to just reflect and experience a moment of gratitude and share it with you. I’ve learned over the years that life is much more enjoyable when I take time to feel grateful for all the wonderful blessings that come my way. Now sometimes those blessings might come disguised as challenges or life lessons that push us outside our comfort zone and into that sometimes difficult space of expanding our horizons and becoming greater people. It isn’t until we have passed the test, learned the lesson and grown from that experience that we are able to see it as a blessing.
Gratitude isn’t something only reserved for Thanksgiving or the month of November. It’s something we should focus on daily and experience with our heart and minds as well as our spirit. Gratitude is something that we share with others as we receive good from them and express appreciation for that positive exchange. It’s something invaluable in building relationships in the business world, in family settings and of course in friendships that last a lifetime! Gratitude is a necessary element in living a happy, fulfilled and joyful life. It’s very difficult to go through life feeling sorry for yourself or depressed because things didn’t go your way when you take the time to count your blessings every morning.
The amazing thing about gratitude is that it’s extremely contagious! The domino effect created by gratitude has the power to transform the energy in a business environment, a home or among a group of connected people in any setting. If you close your eyes and think of one thing that you are extremely grateful for in your life what happens? Do it now and see…. close your eyes – feel the gratitude and I guarantee a big smile immediately overcomes you and this rush of joy fills your inner space. There is healing in feeling gratitude and it’s powers are amazing.
This year I have so much to be grateful for… I published a wonderful book with five amazing women that have given me so much in life to be happy and grateful about! The Six Figures book has been an incredible, inspiring journey that I wish to share with everyone who will pick up the book and read it! I have spent beautiful moments with loving family that have warmed my heart and lifted my soul to new levels. I have stretched myself professionally am learning to go above and beyond – experiencing new avenues and learning how to do more, be more and give more while earning more, of course! I have had the opportunity to teach and share my knowledge and wisdom and touch people in ways that years ago I only dreams of. What an amazing opportunity it is to be a teacher and add enrichment to someone’s life!
Probably one of the most exiting and wonderful experiences here lately was my Stockings 4 Kids program. I had days of blessing after blessings as friends, family and fellow networking professionals reached out and gave from their heart and pocketbook to this beautiful cause of making Christmas special for so many children in need. We had an incredible turnout of young elves helping us stuff 1,000 stockings and so many helpful parents and individual that made this incredible and amazing program a wonderful success this year!
So today I want to invite you to make it a goal for this coming New Year 2013 to experience an Attitude of Gratitude on some level every single day of the year! You can put up thoughts on gratitude on post-it-notes around your home and office. Carry around a gratitude rock in your pocket or start a gratitude journal and write it in every day. Share positive gratitude quotes on facebook and twitter. Express your gratitude to those around you as often as possible. Show your gratitude to your clients, co-workers and employees and create that positive gratitude environment in your work place. Tell your friends, family and loved ones just how lucky and blessed you are to have them in your life. This time next year take a moment to reflect and see what a difference gratitude can make in your life!
“You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more will be given you.” -Sarah Ban Breathnach
